Kara Golux
Licensed Massage Therapist
A graduate of both the Swedish Institute of Massage Therapy and the Ohashi Institute of Shiatsu in New York City, Kara combines the traditional eastern medical view of health as a balance of energy flow with the western scientific understanding of anatomy and physiology.
Highly influenced by the work of Ida Rolf and the Structural Integrationalist perspective of addressing form and function within the play of gravity, Kara uses techniques to release bound connective tissue and free the body from chronic patterns of pain and misalignment. Years of study with movement educator, Nancy Topf, have informed Kara's work with an eye toward the ideokinesthetic model of neuro-muscular re-patterning. Often incorporating stretch, movement and imagery exercises, all sessions are individually tailored to meet the particular needs of each client. Although Kara has worked with people from all walks of life, her vast experience as a professional dancer and yoga practitioner supports her understanding of the physical demands of the performing artist, athlete, or simply those athletically engaged in life. Kara is also trained in prenatal massage techniques and has worked as a doula with partners and individuals through labor and delivery.
